Continuing our “Meet the Team” series, we’re pleased to introduce Timothy G. Parker, CFA, AEP®, CEO and Managing Partner at Regency Wealth Management. Tim has more than three decades of experience in the investment/financial services industry and founded Hudson Capital Management in 2004, which later became Regency Wealth Management in 2010.
Tim’s career has spanned major financial institutions including Bank of America, Bankers Trust, and The Bank of New York, along with leadership in corporate finance and pension investing at Young & Rubicam. That institutional experience, paired with Regency’s boutique, fee-only fiduciary model, helps to shape the disciplined and research-driven approach Regency’s clients rely on today.
As CEO, Tim brings steady leadership and a long-term perspective to both client relationships and firm strategy. Outside of work, Tim brings the same steadiness and long-term focus to both the nonprofits he serves, and in his family.
In this Q&A, we learn more about Tim’s career, perspective, and life outside the office.
Q: How long have you been with Regency?
A: Twenty-two years. I founded Hudson Capital Management in 2004, and when Mark Reitsma, Andy Aran and I started working together in 2010, we became Regency Wealth Management.
Q: What’s the best part about working at Regency to you?
A: The best part is working with great clients and colleagues, nurturing relationships over the long-term, learning their stories, and adding value to their lives through the work we do.
Q: What’s something valuable that you’ve learned in your career?
A: Stay humble and listen well as there is so much more to learn in life. I suppose you could say I’ve learned to continue to learn.
Q: Are you married/do you have kids?
A: Yes! I’ve been married for 30 years. We have two adult children and one son-in-law!

Q: Describe your perfect day.
A: Sleep in, waking up without an alarm. Do some yoga or some other form of exercise. Eat lunch out, then take a walk in the sunshine. Relax in the afternoon. Eat dinner with friends, and be in bed by 10 p.m.
Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: After many years of dodging this question, I’ve realized my work with nonprofits is my hobby. That might look like preparing for a board or committee meeting, meeting with other leaders, or attending an event. I really enjoy being able to serve in this way.
Q: Have you checked something off your bucket list? If so, what?
A: I’m grateful I have been able to do some special things in life, and I look forward to doing many more. Some of those things are seeing Niagara Falls, taking a cruise, and traveling to Asia.
Q: If you could choose one band/musician to listen to for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: I enjoy listening to a wide variety of music, but today I’d say Jelly Roll.
Q: What are three facts about you that people might not know about you?
1) I’m a middle child
2) I’m a cancer survivor
3) I was born in a foreign country
Q: What’s one non-work-related accomplishment you’re proud of?
A: Raising my kids to be the amazing adults they are today.
Q: Where’s your favorite place that you’ve been?
A: Lago di Garda, Italy was a special place I visited last summer. San Diego has to be on the list too, that’s where I grew up, and I visit often to see family.

Q: What’s your favorite food?
A: Steak.
Q: What’s your go-to morning beverage (coffee, tea, Red Bull, etc.)?
A: Water. I haven’t had a whole cup of coffee in probably 30 years.
Q: What’s something you read/learned recently that grabbed your attention?
A: You must continue to step back to see the big picture. This will give you clarity on what to do to get where you want to go.
