Continuing our “Meet the Team” series, we are pleased to introduce Mark Reitsma, Managing Partner and Chief Compliance Officer at Regency Wealth Management. Mark joined Regency in 2010 and has been an important part of our growth and commitment to serving clients with clarity and care.

As Chief Compliance Officer, Mark makes sure that our work is done with integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail. He approaches each responsibility with thoughtfulness and a steady focus on doing what is right for clients. Those who work with him know him as someone who listens closely, communicates clearly, and takes the time to help people feel confident about their financial path.

In this Q&A, we get to learn more about Mark inside and outside of the office. Let’s dive in!

Q: What is the best part about working at Regency for you?

A: The greatest joy in my job is helping people. This may involve guiding someone toward a meaningful life goal, implementing a strategy to significantly reduce taxes, or walking alongside someone who has recently experienced a loss and reassuring them that financially, it’s going to be okay.

Q: What is something valuable you have learned in your career?

A: Cultivating relationships is of supreme importance. It underpins success in business, nourishes friendships, and sustains marriage and family.

Q: Tell us a bit about your family.

A: My wife Pam and I met as stand partners in our middle school orchestra, dated briefly in high school, and reconnected after college when she worked as the Youth Director at our church. In October we celebrated 27 years of marriage and have been blessed with five children.

Q: Describe your perfect day.

A: In my over 50 years of life, the “perfect day” has remained elusive. I tend to live a busy life of both working and playing hard so the closest I think I could come to a “perfect day” would be one in which I get to slow things down, stay completely present, and savor every moment of the day.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: Music is a genuine passion of mine. I enjoy listening to it, attending concerts, and activities like playing, writing, or recording. My tastes are very eclectic and range from classical and jazz to bluegrass and heavy metal. One of my more recent Spotify “annual” summaries said I had listened to 39,564 minutes of music, including 105 different genres. In addition to music, I also enjoy volunteering, traveling, attending Yankee games, working out at the gym, and participating in a wide variety of outdoor pursuits such as skiing, hiking, sporting clays, and fishing.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: I consider myself a bit of a “foodie” and really enjoy experiencing interesting flavors and different types of food. It’s difficult to commit to a “favorite” but I’d have to say that a nice, rare filet mignon, some great sushi, or a good key lime pie certainly rank toward the top, though I’d be remiss if I didn’t at least mention Jersey pizza & bagels… 😉

Q: What is your favorite place you have traveled?

A: Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of traveling to some amazing places, but Austria is a special memory for me. I traveled there with extended family and really enjoyed seeing the picturesque mountains and visiting quaint villages. One highlight was an intimate Mozart chamber music concert in an upper room of the Hohensalzburg Fortress.

Q: What is your go-to morning beverage?

A: Coffee. Beverly was making such good coffee in the office that we bought the same machine for home. Both get plenty of use!

Q: Have you checked something off your bucket list?

A: Yes, attending a New York Yankees World Series clincher. In April of 2009, fellow Regency partner, Andy, and I went to the home opener at the newly built Yankee Stadium where they lost in anti-climactic fashion, 10-2 to the Cleveland Indians.  On November 4, 2009, we attended Game 6 of the World Series together again when the Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 for their 27th title in franchise history.  What a privilege to have attended the first and last game of the season in the brand-new Yankee Stadium!

Q: What are three facts people may not know about you?

A: 1) I’m a multi-instrumentalist. My first instrument was the violin at the age of 7 which I played well into high school orchestra and still dust off on occasion. I picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and have since added drums, bass guitar, mandolin, and ukelele to my repertoire. Someday, when I have more spare time, I’d love to learn the piano and perhaps pick a banjo now and then.

2) During a service trip to the Philippines, I had the opportunity to perform music in front of a rather large group of inmates at a prison. This felt like my Johnny Cash moment.

3) In February of 2026 I am planning on hiking from the base to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa with a group of friends and colleagues from City Relief. Wish me luck!

Q: If you could listen to only one musician or band for the rest of your life, who would it be?

A: Asking me to name one band/musician to listen to for the rest of my life would be an agonizing and difficult decision to make – like asking me to choose my favorite child. While it might be a VERY close race between The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, & Pink Floyd, I think I’d have to give the edge to Led Zeppelin

Q: What is one non-work accomplishment you are proud of?

A: Writing, recording, and producing an original album. It was a lifelong goal and a rewarding creative experience. Though I’d contributed to numerous original projects over the years, steering an entire album from concept to completion was a unique joy and a deeply satisfying artistic experience.
